The flight was returning from Wichita, Kansas, after the U.S. Championships.
Jinna Han was a promising skater known for her technical skills and grace. The Skating Club of Boston mourned the loss, describing her as a serious competitor with a supportive attitude toward fellow skaters. The crash also claimed former world champions Evgenia Shishkova and Vadim Naumov, along with their trainees.
The collision, involving 60 passengers and four crew members on the plane, and three military personnel in the helicopter, led to a crash into the Potomac River. Authorities confirmed no survivors, and recovery efforts continue. US Figure Skating expressed deep sorrow, stating the tragedy has shaken the entire community. The victims, including young athletes like Spencer Lane, were seen as future Olympic contenders.
