Princess Diana’s bodyguard says 3 mistakes killed her

Ken Wharfe, Princess Diana’s former bodyguard, believes three key security failures contributed to her tragic death in 1997. Wharfe, who worked closely with Diana from 1987 to 1993, argues that Diana’s life could have been saved if different decisions had been made.
One major mistake was the choice of driver. Henri Paul, who was intoxicated and speeding, was behind the wheel when the car crashed in Paris. Wharfe suggests that if bodyguard Trevor Rees-Jones had been allowed to drive, the crash might have been avoided.Another failure was the attempt to evade paparazzi without coordinating with local police, which led to the high-speed chase that ended in disaster. Finally, Diana’s decision to dismiss her Scotland Yard security team, despite Wharfe’s advice, left her vulnerable. Wharfe believes that had Queen Elizabeth insisted she keep them, Diana would have agreed.
Wharfe concludes that these crucial decisions led to Diana’s tragic death, a point he believes is still relevant today.
