Actor Patrick Adiarte Passes Away at 82
Patrick Adiarte, known for his role as Ho-Jon on season one of MASH*, has died at age 82 from pneumonia, confirmed by his niece to The Hollywood Reporter. Born in Manila in 1943, Adiarte survived World War II before moving to the U.S., where he built a career as an actor and dancer.
He appeared in classic film musicals The King and I (1956) and Flower Drum Song (1961), both by Rodgers and Hammerstein. On TV, he had roles in Hawaii Five-O, Bonanza, Kojak, and more. Gene Kelly once praised him as a potential “next Fred Astaire.”
Adiarte’s most memorable TV role was Ho-Jon on MASH*, where he played an orphaned houseboy trying to study in the U.S. After season one, the character was written out.
In his later years, Adiarte focused on teaching dance, including at Santa Monica College.
