Kate McCann reveals the one regret she’ll carry forever after Madeleine’s disappearance
Madeleine McCann’s disappearance in 2007 remains one of the world’s most haunting unsolved cases. Last week, a new documentary, The Unseen Evidence, reignited global interest by revealing disturbing details about the main suspect, Christian Brueckner, including evidence found in a 2016 raid on his property.

While Madeleine’s parents, Kate and Gerry McCann, haven’t responded publicly to the documentary, Kate has previously spoken about her biggest regret — leaving Madeleine and her siblings alone in their holiday apartment while they dined nearby. They had arranged to check on the children every 30 minutes.
In her memoir Madeleine, Kate revealed that the resort staff had written a note about their dinner reservation, stating the children were left alone. Kate fears the abductor may have seen it. “We now bitterly regret it and will do so until the end of our days,” she wrote.

Nearly 18 years later, Madeleine is still missing. On May 3rd, just days before the documentary aired, the McCanns released a statement marking the 18th anniversary of her disappearance and what would have been her 22nd birthday. They thanked supporters and vowed to never give up the search:
“No matter how near or far she is, she continues to be right here with us.”
