Trump’s niece warns he’ll want to be ‘president for life’ if re-elected

Mary Trump, Donald Trump’s niece and vocal critic, has warned that her uncle’s potential return to the presidency poses a serious threat to democracy. In her 2020 book Too Much and Never Enough, she described him as “utterly incapable of leading this country.”

In a recent interview with The Telegraph, Mary expressed concern that if Trump were given the chance, he might try to stay in power for life—despite the Constitution limiting presidents to two terms. Trump has hinted multiple times at the idea of a third term, recently suggesting there may be “methods” or a “loophole” to extend his presidency.

Mary warned, “It’s not about whether he’ll run, it’s about whether he’ll leave.” She fears Trump could refuse to step down, creating an unprecedented crisis.

She also criticized Democrats, especially the Biden administration, for underestimating the risk of Trump’s return and failing to prepare. She said America’s political system is deeply broken, and Trump is a product of decades of decline in Republican politics.
