Disney CEO Drops Trump Bombshell On Ladies of ‘The View’
Disney CEO Bob Iger and ABC News President Almin Karamehmedovic have reportedly urged the hosts of The View to tone down their political commentary, especially their frequent criticisms of President Donald Trump. This request, which emerged before Trump’s inauguration in January, has caused behind-the-scenes tension, as reported by the New York Post.
Executive producer Brian Teta met with the staff, encouraging a more balanced tone, especially after the show had to issue multiple legal disclaimers about Trump’s cabinet picks in a November episode. While ABC claims they regularly review audience feedback and didn’t single out Trump, hosts were asked to broaden the range of topics, favoring celebrity and lifestyle segments over political content.
Sources say the suggestion—especially from Karamehmedovic—was met with resistance, particularly from Ana Navarro, who emphasized that viewers expect sharp political discussion, especially in today’s climate.
Despite leadership’s push for change, the hosts have continued their usual format, offering political insights following Trump’s return to office in 2024. This internal conflict comes as Disney faces pressure from Trump and his allies. The company recently settled a $16 million lawsuit with the former president over a misstatement by ABC’s George Stephanopoulos, and Trump has launched additional legal actions, including a $20 billion lawsuit against CBS and Paramount Global.
These legal disputes have already led to key resignations at CBS, including “60 Minutes” executive producer Bill Owens and CBS News President Wendy McMahon.
