At 70, Joan MacDonald was struggling with health issues and dependent on medication, but after a conversation with her daughter, Michelle, she decided to take control of her health. By joining Michelle’s fitness transformation group in 2017, Joan began following custom workout plans and eventually working out at the gym.
Her determination paid off: by 2018, she was off all medications, had joined a gym, and was receiving compliments for her strength and physique. By 2022, at nearly 76, Joan had lost 60 pounds and could bench press 80 pounds.
Now approaching 80, Joan has over two million Instagram followers and is an inspiration to many. She advocates breaking aging stereotypes and promotes five key principles for a healthier life: eat more protein, choose a diet rich in produce, strength train regularly, find joy in life, and keep learning. Joan’s journey shows that it’s never too late to reclaim one’s health, proving that age is not a limitation but an opportunity for growth.
